Your reality

Today, your Microsoft Dynamics AX is standing in the way of innovation. It weighs you down, technology wise. You can not generate the innovation, conversion and digitization that is necessary for your business.

You want to upgrade your Dynamics AX and create new technological possibilities, but an upgrade seems like a walk in the desert.

Your problem

Everyone makes it sound like a moon landing. At the next Management meeting your colleagues will stand in line to tell you that the problem cannot be fixed “just like that”. But that’s probably because none of them knows any better. They have never tried anything else. To them ERP has always been difficult and hurtful.

But it does not have to be difficult. In 30 days you can be up and running on the latest ERP version. Without a big million dollar bill.

Your solution

You gotta act now. You no longer have to think of your ERP system as a turtle lying helplessly trapped on its back.

You must have a system that is based on 100% standard functionality, that is preconfigured, and that includes industry-oriented templates and a short, fixed implementation scope. In 30 days you can be running Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (the new edition of Dynamics AX).

The painful upgrade projects are past with an Evergreen ERP solution

Let’s repeat that: You’ll never have to go through a big ERP project again. We take care of all future upgrades continuously. Major, painful upgrade projects are a thing of the past.

In 30 days from now, you can spend your time on innovation and digitization instead of worrying about old technology.

The ERP system should not lock you down.
It should actually open up opportunities for
new business and innovation.

Many business leaders have the problem that they get stuck with an old ERP system. A system that has not really kept up with the changes in the market. It just seems unmanageable to get it upgraded or replaced, because you don’t know where to start and where to end and what other systems might be affected.

The problem has existed for a long time, but people have sort of come to accept that all these old legacy systems reduce the company’s ability to develop.

Perhaps you can recognize this situation from your own business:

The results are under pressure. Your company needs to get the numbers up or identify some potential savings. At the same time you are attacked by new players who try to disrupt the market with new products and services.

You have to adopt, adapt and constantly improve. It requires more innovation, new attitudes and new actions. All these initiatives usually also require new technology, and the new technology must be able to coexist with the old stuff.

When new initiatives are on the agenda at the management meetings, they are often met with attitudes such as “we can not do this”… and… “we cannot do that”… and then it can suddenly seem very difficult to move forward…

Your old ERP system has made your business look like a turtle that has ended up on its back, unable to move.

If your company runs on an old Dynamics AX, then there is a risk that it will no longer be supported by Microsoft, and your support costs have certainly become enormously expensive. You may have heard about this before, but it’s not the only problem.

The real problem is that your company most likely has a wide range of other solutions and systems that need to be updated regularly to support innovation and digital development. On top of that even more new technology is constantly being released to the market, and your company could also benefit from that.

All of these solutions need to be able to ‘talk’ to your ERP system, but that is no longer possible. The old Dynamics AX technology can not keep up with today’s requirements at all. Your ability to keep up with time evaporates.

“Can’t we just upgrade our Dynamics AX?”, is asked at the management meeting.

But unfortunately that is not easy…

The good old Dynamics AX has over time been flooded with small changes, all being made especially for you to solve all the needs and special requests that have arisen in your organization over the years. It has turned out so because having something that is tailored to your needs seems like the right thing to go for. It makes good sense. But not anymore.

Moving an existing AX solution, which is tailor made and specially designed, to become a similar Dynamics 365 ERP solution is a big mouthful. It’s not just an upgrade. And all your special solutions must either be replaced by something else, or you must in all areas investigate whether you can live with a standard solution. It is a big job.

It can of course make sense for you to defend the old system, the old decisions and procurement and thus the budding method. There may have been a lot of important needs over the years that the ERP solution should support. IT people have proudly developed Dynamics AX systems for many years.

It is however a huge task to move all the legacy architect-designed, tailor-made customizations to a new version of the ERP system. It will cost you millions and it will take both half and full years. And that is why you should never go down that path.

It’s a waste of money. Before the ERP marathon project is complete, the world has changed and your “new” ERP system is already obsolete again. It’s been seen way too many times, and it’s no fun anymore.

For many years, the special development of ERP systems has been ‘Best practice’ and has really been the only option that larger companies have been able to make use of. But that has changed.

In fact, very few people are aware of the possibility of rapid ERP upgrades and the use of standardized ERP solutions. They may know the mindset, but may not know that it has actually become possible in the real world.

But it has, and it is time to break with the bad, old habits. The time has come for fast and standardized ERP solutions, which are now a reality.

Many will probably be hesitant when they hear us bury ERP development projects, but that’s probably because the world has never experienced anything else.

In fact, we are a little surprised that the ERP industry is no longer at the forefront of standardizing and utilizing templates. It seems that everyone thinks that it will take a long time and that it should hurt to get a new ERP system.

Independent experts state: “It can not be done”.

… But bear in mind that these expertes make a (good) living by advising companies and later assisting them with these large development projects. Could it be that it would feel as if they are sawing off the branch on which they are sitting? The usual players in the ERP market typically make a living from selling consulting services, and they do not have any reason or motivation to try on new methods that cannibalize their own business.

At Sprint365, we have no old business model to protect, and therefore we are more that willing to take the lead.

We like to stand up and say that the ERP industry “has no clothes on” (The Emperor’s New Clothes).

Of course, it should be easier to get started with an ERP system.

Of course, it does not make sense that small businesses can get started with systems like Dinero or e-Conomic by a few mouse clicks, while large companies have to accept 6-18 months delivery time and extra expenses in the millions category.

In both cases, the product is actually finished and ready for use to begin with. The long waiting time and the many expenses of the large companies can not be attributed to the solution itself. It is the need for “adjustments” that makes the difference.

Imagine that you buy a brand new suit for DKK 5,000. And then on top you would be asked to pay DKK 25,000 to have it adjusted and tailored so the clothes would fit you. And by the way, you have to wait several months for the sewing to be done.

You would leave the store outraged.

Why is a similar scenario okay when it comes to ERP systems?

Imagine that you buy a brand new expensive suit. And then on top you would be asked to pay five times the purchase price to have it adjusted and tailored so the clothes would fit you. And by the way, you have to wait several months for the sewing to be done.

You would leave the store outraged.

Why is a similar scenario okay when it comes to ERP systems?

The message is clear. Skip the mindset that ERP systems are “special”, and that your company’s management needs are “special”, and that you therefore have to order “special development” for a lot of functionality. It is true that you are unique and that your business is unique. But the systems that run these businesses are not.

Microsoft’s new ERP standard solution, Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain, can do much more out of the box than you can imagine. It will cover your needs, to a greater degree than you imagine. It can be expanded with standardized (ready-built) additional solutions, which will solve the rest. Also in places where your business may be unique.

Unfortunately, we cannot take credit for the entire idea of accelerated ERP projects with best-practice templates.

This has been the strategy from Microsoft for many years. And that is why Microsoft has moved all their business solutions to the cloud. And they have moved all the business solutions to the same technology platform so that they can easily interconnect. They have made it much easier to put new solutions into use.

Microsoft would like all ERP vendors in their partner channel to follow the new paradigm and get customers started on their solutions faster. With that time can be freed up for other services, which create greater business value for end customers.

But many ERP vendors get stuck in the old paradigm because they make a living by selling consulting hours. A while yet.

There are ERP vendors who have already seen the light and who are taking full advantage of the opportunities in Microsoft’s new strategy and technology. We count ourselves among them.
It is a movement that is underway in the ERP industry.

Led by Microsoft.

In the Danish market, for example, you can also find a company such as Abakion, which has great success in delivering Microsoft’s ERP solution, Dynamics Business Central (for smaller companies) in a similar fashion, using templates and standard setup.

Do not think that you are being sent out alone on a new and dangerous journey. On the contrary, you will follow a long-term and well-thought-out strategy from Microsoft.

And you’ll be doing it with thousands of other companies using the exact same solution as you.

If, on the other hand, your company continues to stay on the old path, then you will be left alone
– and at your own expense.
